LPW - Alphonse Matile, Geneva, 42mm, heavy 18K gold original HC with beautiful black enamel floral and vase detail, scalloped band, bow with chain guards, originally with gold cuvette with is no longer present, glazed mvt observation cover, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, lever escapement with counterpoise, 16J, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#16584 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 45.3 dwt (70.5 g). From the collection of Art Bissell. CONDITION: Mvt: NR, setting mechanism briefly engaged then slipped out of engagement and failed to re-engage on further trials, balance swings freely and will tick with some pressure added at center wheel, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, some surface haze in areas and small surface spots, oxide to portions of ratchet wheel, one ratchet wheel screw missing its head; visible portion of dial with light hl below seconds-register at 6, pinpoint nick right of center, seconds-register has been re-secured with glue excess around its seat; fine hands, oxide to minute tip, seconds-hand with small bends; case is missing its cuvette with empty central hinge tube remaining present, case shows very little wear, mild ding to rear left of center which is more evident to inner surface of lid, excellent engraving detail, enameling substantially intact with few minimal bits of loss; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystals.
