APW - Hamilton, Model 23 chronograph with 30-minute register, World War II era military "Navigational Time & Stop Watch", chrome-plated base metal OF original case, black metal dial, SW-SS, mono-metallic balance with Elinvar hairspring, satin nickel finish, s#P6794. This example is listed in the Hamilton factory ledger as having been sold on June 9th, 1944. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, chronograph with good stop, start, and reset function for sweep-seconds hand but with deficiencies in minute register function, initiating chronograph will move register hand halfway between the 0 and 1, upon stopping the chronograph, hand will return to zero, hand advances correctly to 2 as well as to 3, but stopping chronograph causes register hand to move almost a full step back, hand will still zero correctly, overhaul needed for proper minute register function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered short fine to micro-fine scratches, few scattered small spots of oxide to steelwork; visible portion of dial with contact mark at 1 and 10:30; fine-plus hands with areas of repainting and some short fine scratches; case bezel with different tone which we suspect is an .800 silver replacement taken from a silver Grade 4992B case but bezel is currently threaded very tight and did not remove with normal hand pressure so we have not inspected for serial number marking internally, case shows ample wear, scattered short fine scratches, tiny nicks, and few small spots of finish loss to band, case rear with full loss of chrome-finish likely from a past polishing to remove contract markings, rear has slight difficulty screwing down flush leaving very thin gap to lower portion; bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal. Estimate: $400 - $550 JH-77816
