APW - Hamilton, Grade 938, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF recase with attractive engraving detail to rear, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#290892. The Grade 938, and its hunting case equivalent Grade 939, were Hamilton's finest quality 17 jewel 18 size watches and feature beautiful movement finish with ornate nickel damascene, gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and mirror finish steelwork including a disk around the balance jewel setting. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright plates, profuse micro-fine scratches, cluster of tiny nicks to balance cock and few elsewhere, medium oxide to steelwork; dial with hls at 6 and 10:30, few scattered micro-fine scratches, spots of very light bevel wear under bezel; excellent hands with few small spots of oxide and finish loss; case shows very light wear, band with few dents, dings, and scattered small to tiny nicks, good engraving detail, few thin strips of wear to brass beginning to form to case edges; tight bow, crown shows very light wear; good glass crystal.
