APW - Illinois, Sangamo Special, 23J, 16S, chrome-plated base metal OF modified display recase, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel, crosshatch pattern nickel damascene, s#2970083. CONDITION: Mvt: Running after some prodding to start, overhaul recommended, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, yellow toning to escape wheel and fourth wheel bridges, many tiny nicks and short fine scratches to balance cock, balance jewel setting is a brass replacement and steel cap around jewel setting with micro-fine scratch striations from polishing or sanding, lightly scribed number and letters to plate right of smaller winding wheel, scattered micro-fine scratches elsewhere, few small spots of oxide to winding wheels and light oxide to regulator; dial with long thin chip and small fracture above seconds-register, many scattered fine scratches within seconds-register and few scattered elsewhere, scratch at 9, finish imperfection at 11 and some scattered smaller ones throughout; excellent hands; case shows medium wear, few small nicks to lower-left rear bezel, scattered tiny nicks and short fine scratches to band, few short strips of finish loss to band and rear bezel edge; bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; good glass crystals.
