Hamilton, 36S, 21J, marine chronometer with lever escapement and 56-hour winding indicator, mounted in nickel-plated tub within a three-tier wooden box, center tier with Hamilton signature plaque, metal dial of approximately 2.4 inch diameter, KWKS (a key is included within box as pictured), fully capped lever escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#1260911. The total production of the Hamilton 36 size was 970 made with all examples being produced in a single production run spanning serial numbers 1260001 to 1260970. These pieces were sold between 1918 until at least as late as 1943. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good winding indicator function aside from hand being substantially out of index, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, few micro-fine scratches; visible portion of dial with some mild contact marks; nearly mint hands; tub and gimbals show little wear, some scratches and abrasions, good gimbals function; good glass crystal; box shows little wear, few scratches, button latches good, good display glass. Estimate: $1,400 - $2,200 JH-76630
