APW - Hamilton, Grade 992 with scarce "Engineer Corps U.S.A. No. 736" marked dial, 21J, 16S, stainless steel Hamilton Model 15 OF recase, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#1308225. A scarce watch with an interesting military history, in 1918 Hamilton shipped 1000 of these watches with sequentially numbered dials for use by the Engineer Corps in operating a U.S. Army built railroad in France that carried supplies to the front line troops. These watches were paired with plain nickel cases, and this example has lost its original case at some point in its lifetime and had a Hamilton case for a Grade 992B paired as its replacement. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, regulator assembly with areas of oxide; dial with fracture crossing lower-right corner of center section with few associated adjacent surface flakes, short hl above 5; fine hands with areas of oxide and finish loss; case rear with tendency to cross-thread creating some difficulties with opening and closing, case shows light wear, few small nicks; bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; clean plastic crystal. Estimate: $300 - $600 JH-78723
