EPW - Vaucher freres, quarter-hour repeater musical watch with virgule escapement, 60mm, 18K gold OF original case with small button in band at 2 for music on demand, signed gilt cuvette, white enamel dial, KWKS (key not included with this lot), virgule escapement, gilt mvt, s#10574 to cuvette. Gross weight of assembled watch 105.0 dwt (163.3 g). Materials tested via XRF analysis. An impressive piece with rarely seen superb, crisp case condition. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, repeat functioning at hand settings between 1:00 and 11:59 but occasionally minute hand shifts some minutes as pendant is depressed, consistent full failure of repeat function at hand settings between 12:00 and 12:59, good repeat tone when repeat mechanism engages, musical function on passing of our only rarely occurring, good musical function on demand, overhaul needed for full proper repeat and musical functions, good repeat tone scattered surface nicks and fine scratches, steelwork with some scattered oxide; dial with crudely patched edge chips near 4, 6, and 11:30, cluster of perimeter hls between 3 and 4, some scattered surface nicks and short scratches; excellent hands with some small bits of oxide and finish loss; case shows hardly any wear, scattered dings to band, superb crisp engine turning detail; bow pivots freely; good domed glass crystal.
