APW - E. Howard & Co, Boston, Series III, 15J, N-S (just over 19S), very heavy 17K gold original "S.B. & Co." HC with slightly inaccurate 18K marking, case with exquisite combination engraving and fluted detail extending continuously across lids and scalloped band, lower rear with an engraved dog's head, engraved pendant and bow, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, polished spade hour and minute hands, KWKS (key not included with this lot), gilt mvt, s#21871. Gross weight of assembled watch 101.9 dwt (158.4 g). Materials tested via XRF analysis. An exceptional example, distinguished by its massive gold hunting case retaining beautiful engraving detail in superb, crisp condition. Men's size keywind Howard watches are rarely encountered with gold cases combining such substantial weight and remarkable state of preservation. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered mild haze spots and marks, few fine scratches, some marring tight along base of hairspring stud and to hairspring stud screw; dial flawless in visible portion; excellent hands, mild oxide to polished spade of minute; case shows virtually no wear, no dents, exquisite crisp engraving detail, cuvette with some fine scratches from past key slips, case front lift spring needs a small nudge of assistance to reach fully opened; tight bow, push shows light wear; good glass crystal.
