APW - Waltham, "Mermod-Jaccard & King's Paragon Timekeeper, St. Louis" with hourglass image to mvt and dial, 23J, Model 1892, 18S, coin silver OF recase with attractive foliate engraving detail to rear, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, diamond endstone, jeweled barrel, gilt jewel setting screws and regulator, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#12563046. An eye-catching and extremely rare top grade Waltham private label highlighted by its iconic hourglass symbol, we have seen no more than five examples of this watch, and can not recall having seen any of these come to market anywhere in the last 20 years. CONDITION: Mvt: Running after a twist to start, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some fine to micro-fine scratches with greatest profusion at plate perimeter above right side of signature, winding wheels with few very small bits of oxide, two mvt screws are non-gilt replacements; dial with small patched chip to lower-right corner of center section above 5, extremely faint hand run and very few short micro-fine scratches within seconds-register; excellent-plus hour and minute hand, excellent seconds-hand with light oxide; case shows light to medium wear, an attractive moderate patina, few small nicks to rear thumb catch and cuvette, some scattered tiny nicks to band, some small lightly scribed letters inside rear, good engraving detail, reduced engine turning detail with majority fully lost; tight bow, crown shows very light wear; good thick glass crystal.
