EPW - J. Auricoste, France, center-seconds deck watch for French Navy, 65mm, nickel OF original case marked "Marine Nationale 1942 J. Auricoste" to rear, white enamel dial, SW-SS, lever escapement, likely 16J, gilt mvt, s#6075 within case. An interesting and scarce French military piece, this example is the first of its type we have handled. CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, overhaul recommended, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some cloudy haze and spots to plates, scattered micro-fine scratches; dial with cluster of hls radiating from upper-right portion of dial; excellent minute hand and sweep-seconds-hand, fair hour hand with abrasions and finish loss; case shows light wear, profuse micro-fine scratches, no dents, good contract marking detail, cuvette with numerous scratches and small mars at perimeter from slipped and rough past openings; bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; glass crystal with numerous scratches.
