EPW - Charles Gartner & Co., London, keyless lever chronograph with regulator style dial, 48mm,18K gold OF original case bearing London hallmarks for 1867, "AN" in cameo for casemaker Adolph Nicole, white enamel DS dial, SW-pin-set with Nicole's keyless winding system, English lever escapement, likely 19J, gilt mvt, s#4087 with matching serial number within case and to dial. Gross weight of assembled watch 66.7 dwt (103.8 g). Charles Gartner & Co. was located at 38 James Street, Bedford Row, London. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good chronograph function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered fine scratches and screwdriver marks, very light spots of oxide to steelwork, light hazing to plate; dial with crudely repaired chip at 10 minutes, small chip hidden under bezel at 60 minutes, few negligible pinpoint nicks to hour sub dial; excellent hands, very faint spotted loss of finish to seconds-hand and base of hour hand; case shows medium wear, few scattered pinpoint nicks to band, reduced engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
