EPW - Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, 49mm, 18K gold original HC with split push for selection of opening front or rear, signed gold cuvette bearing attributes, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, lever escapement, 15J (the inconsistent with cuvette "Thirteen Jewels" marking is due to this era's convention of not including cap jeweling in total count), gilt mvt, s#81155. Gross weight of assembled watch 53.7 dwt (83.5 g). Materials tested via XRF analysis. A lovely mid-nineteenth century example of this distinguished maker's work. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, barrel bridge and center bridge with ultra-fine scratch striations from past wipings, few small specks of oxide to steel balance cap; dial nearly flawless in visible portion with short fine scratch to perimeter at 5, some wispy haze in dial glaze evident in reflected lighting; excellent hour hand, fine minute hand with darkened tip that is somewhat short, replacement seconds-hand is smaller than appropriate; case shows hardly any wear, dings to band at 1:30 and 4:30, few nicks or mild very small dings to front and rear, excellent engine turning detail; bow pivots freely, split-push shows little wear; good glass crystal though with some spots of glue excess at its seat. Estimate: $3,800 - $4,800 JH-80052
