EPW - Leonard a Paris, verge fusee, 50mm, 16K gold OF original case with beautiful polychrome enamel scene of a man and woman walking beside an altar with a burning fire, above which two doves ascend toward a palm tree, rendered in striking turquoise, white, and gray tones, this scene contrasts against a rich backdrop of royal blue guilloche enamel sky, split pearl-set bezel and rear perimeter, enameled pendant, white enamel dial, KWKS (key not included with this lot), verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, s#335 to mvt under dial with matching serial number marked to rear of dial. Gross weight of assembled watch 39.8 dwt (69.8 g). Materials tested via XRF analysis. An exquisitely beautiful French polychrome enamel watch, with notable thin design having total front-to-rear thickness of 14.1mm which includes its domed crystal, and movement having front-to-rear thickness of only 9.7mm measured to tip of setting arbor. CONDITION: Mvt: NR, fully wound, will tick with a touch of reverse pressure held to winding arbor, overhaul needed, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, scattered fine to micro-fine scratches; dial with beveling abrasion around perimeter which clips the top of the "60" minute numerals, otherwise nearly flawless with some scattered micro-fine scratches; hands excellent cosmetically but minute with loose fit and tends to fall off easily (and presumably will do so when shipped); case shows hardly any wear, no dents, rear enamel detail fully intact, pendant enamel with some chipped loss to upper portion of front and intact in other portions of pendant, all split pearls present; bow pivots freely, push shows very little wear; good domed glass crystal.
