APW - Illinois, Bunn Special with scarce fishscale damascene, 21J, 16S, white gold-filled OF recase, white enamel DS dial of somewhat later vintage and style appropriate to a non-railroad grade, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, fishscale pattern nickel damascene, s#2649172. Per Michael Chamelin's Bunn Special book, the total production of this 21 jewel open face with fishscale pattern damascene is believed to be 2400 made. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright plates,scattered short fine to micro-fine scratches, some spots of oxide to winding wheels and light oxide to regulator, some small light spots to winding wheels, cluster of short deep scratches to balance, larger winding wheel missing its central hub, case screws are replacements; dial with scattered areas of light surface dirtiness and light wispy haze, some scattered micro-fine scratches, few areas of very light edge wear under bezel; poor hands; case shows little wear, two mild dents to rear, few small to tiny nicks to band, good engraving detail; bow pivots freely and has a strip of brass to inner portion, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with short fine scratch at 3.
