APW - Illinois, Stuart, Model 1, 15J, 18S, gold-filled OF G.W. Ladd recase, white enamel DS dial with fancy Roman numerals and Old English style signature, KWKS (keys are included with this lot as pictured), gilt mvt, s#2933. An early example, from the second run of Stuart production which spanned serial numbers 2501 to 3000. CONDITION: Mvt: NR, mainspring barrel is lifted a bit above proper position and is contacting lower portion of balance wheel, overhaul needed, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with some haze and scattered surface spots, some fine to micro-fine scratches; dial with light outer chapter hls at 12:30 and 5:30; minute hand is missing, excellent hour hand and seconds-hand though hour with slight bend; case shows ample wear, scattered dings and shallow denting to rear and cuvette, substantially reduced engraving detail and only some small faint traces of engine turning remain, wear to brass to portions of pendant, inner surface of case rear is through fully to brass; bow pivots freely, is thinned at top, and is worn nearly fully to brass; thick glass crystal with scattered short scratches and nicks.
