APW - Illinois, Washington Watch Co, Army and Navy, 19J, 12S, gold-filled HC recase with beautiful engine turning and engraving detail, white enamel SS dial, SW-SS, lever escapement with capped escape wheel, nickel damascene, s#2260968. A very rare watch, per the www.illinoiswatchguide.com website (site no longer active, but archived versions available via "Wayback Machine" internet archive) the total production of this 12 size 19 jewel hunting case Army & Navy is believed to be only 170 made. CONDITION: Mvt: Running after prodding through a very reluctant start, overhaul recommended, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered micro-fine scratches; visible portion of dial with perimeter hl between 7 and 8:30, scratch at 7; excellent hands, finish loss to portion of minute tip; case back not snapping closed and we see no immediately obvious cause for this issue which will need to be addressed, case shows hardly any wear, file mark and ding to band between hinges, ding and nick to band at 6, few nicks elsewhere to band, superb crisp engine turning and engraving detail, sizable portion of inner surface of front is through to brass; tight bow, crown shows very little wear; crystal is missing.
