APW - Rockford, "J.P. Wathier, Chicago, Ills.," marked mvt, 15J, Model 6 with aperture for viewing escapement action, 18S, gold-filled HC recase, glazed mvt observation cover, white enamel SS impressed dial, SW-LS, two-tone gilt and nickel damascene with square, circular, and fishscale elements, s#249195. This example is highlighted by its movement rare and beautiful two-tone plate finish. The small number of examples of Model 6 Rockford with two-tone finish we have observed have all been private label marked to one of two Chicago retailers, .JP. Wathier or L.F. Hussander, and all have placed within the span of the 100 serial numbers between 249101 and 249200. We suspect the present example may have begun life with a "Wathier" signed double-sunk dial as we have seen this among other examples, but given the small sample size it may be premature to draw any absolute conclusions regarding dials. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent two-tone color, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches and small surface nicks; visible portion of dial with few scattered scratches and surface nicks; fine hands with areas of oxide; case shows medium wear, scattered dings to band, shallow compression type dent of center rear, substantially reduced engraving detail with some areas of full loss, engine turning detail is largely fully lost; tight bow thinned at top, crown shows ample wear with ridge break; good glass primary crystal, clean plastic mvt observation crystal. Estimate: $400 - $700 JH-80776
