APW - Waltham, P.S. Bartlett, pre-Civil War era, Model 1859, 15J, 18S, silver original HC with eagle hallmark, front with initialed shield, white enamel SS dial, KWKS (key not included with this lot), gilt mvt, s#43566. This watch is from a production run listed in Waltham records as having been made during March of 1861. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, uneven light haze and areas of yellow toning, small dark surface spot above signature, fine scratch below winding arbor, some scattered short micro-fine scratches, light oxide to steelwork; dial with prominent hl from 2 to top of seconds-register, few tiny dark as-made finish imperfections; excellent-plus hour hand, fine-plus seconds-hand with finish loss, poor minute hand with ample oxide; case with two metal splits to lower portion of front with each above opposite sides of hinge, front lift spring allowing lid to tip halfway towards closed gravity, case shows medium wear, dark overall patina, many small dents and mild dings to front and few elsewhere, reduced initial and engine turning detail; bow pivots freely and has excess side-to-side play, push shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
