EPW - Bartholomew Devis, Preston, verge fusee, 47mm, 22K gold OF pair cases bearing London hallmarks, date letter partially lost to rub but is possibly 1775, casemaker's incuse "I L" marking, outer case with ornate engraving detail including an urn to rear, outer case containing a paper for Barned & Co. of Liverpool, white enamel dial, KWKS (a key is included with this lot as pictured), verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock, s#725. Comes as pictured with a 7K gold chain with two attached fobs, one having a carnelian intaglio, and a winding key. Gross weight of assembled watch 61.5 dwt (95.7 g). Gross weight of chain and attached items 19.9 dwt (31.0 g). CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some mild surface haze and scattered micro-fine scratches; dial with few perimeter hls, some scattered glaze scratches; excellent hands; outer case shows little wear, numerous scattered dings to rear perimeter, thin sliver of fractured separation of rear planchet at lower-right, good engraving detail, button latch good; inner case shows medium wear, numerous dents and dings to rear, circumferential indentation around sides; bow pivots freely, domed glass crystal with scattered scratches.
