EPW - Samson, London, verge fusee likely of Continental manufacture despite London signature, 45mm, silver OF pair cases bearing London hallmarks for 1896 presumably indicating a significantly later purpose-made replacement, outer case with detailed armorial elements to rear, outer case containing paper for watchmaker G.W. Howie of Murraygate, Dundee, silver champlevé dial with brass rosettes at half-hour positions, KWKS (key not included with this lot), verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, s#13584. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, mvt appears likely to have been re-gilt, bright lustrous gilt tone, some fine scratches; excellent dial, scratch above 1; fine hands, hour with some areas of abrasion and finish loss; outer case shows very little wear, an attractive dark patina, no dents, some pinpoint nicks, excellent engraving detail, button latch good; inner case shows little wear, no dents; bow pivots semi-freely; good domed glass crystal.
