EPW - Wm. Windle, Stockton, verge fusee with relatively modern era conversion to sun and moon display, 57mm, silver OF pair cases bearing London hallmarks for 1857, outer case containing two papers for watchmakers J. Graham & Sons of Lockerbie, replacement sun and moon style dial of relatively modern production, KWKS (key not included with this lot), verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock, s#88638 with matching serial number within inner case. An eye-catching piece, but with sun and moon dial of relatively modern creation as this particular dial style was mass produced in England in relatively modern times and we see conversions using this dial fairly frequently. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with scattered fine to micro-fine scratches and some areas of mild haze, small marring adjacent pillar positions; modern era replacement dial is cosmetically excellent; excellent hand; outer case shows medium wear, a darkened patina, scattered dents and dings, button latch with good function but button is sheered off and its inner fill is missing; inner case shows medium wear, profuse peck marks throughout rear, shallow indentation of center rear, prominent circumferential indentation around sides, some additional scattered dents and dings elsewhere; bow pivots freely and has substantial play within larger pendant through-hole; good domed glass bull's-eye crystal. Estimate: $300 - $500 JH-80807
