APW - Ball Hamilton, Official RR Standard with scarce "Single Roller" marking, Grade 999E, 17J, 18S, gold-filled Of recase with attractive engraving scene to rear featuring an estate nestled behind a large hill and sat along the shore with trees and mountains in the background, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, mvt stamped "Sapphire Pallets," bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene with rosette at center, s#90330. The "Single Roller" marked Ball Hamilton movements are quite scarce having been made in only a few short runs among the relatively early end of production, and these movements notably are frequently found with the scarce double-sunk version of Ball's Official RR Standard dial as seen with this example. This particular example also features a scarce style of wider spaced bull's-eye damascene with rosette design at its center. CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, excess escapement noise when turned in different positions, overhaul recommended, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, many scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, clusters of tiny nicks to balance and few elsewhere, medium oxide to regulator and few tiny spots elsewhere to steelwork; dial with cluster of hls at 12:30 and some scattered elsewhere, many scratches and fine scratches within seconds-register and some scattered elsewhere, few scattered small to tiny flakes, small edge fracture and edge flake at 2, few areas of very light edge wear under bezel; fine seconds and minute hand with oxide, fair hour with ample finish loss; case shows very little wear, no dents, small ding to band at 7, scattered small to tiny nicks to band, excellent engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear with some up/down play; good glass crystal.
