APW - Elgin, Father Time with rare Montgomery 1920 patent dial, Grade 388, 21J, 16S, green gold-filled OF original case with beautiful engraving detail to rear, Montgomery's 1920 patent style white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, nickel damascene, s#18154425. The rare and very eye-catching dial of this piece was designed by H.S. Montgomery and was granted U.S. Design Patent 54950 on April 20, 1920; dials of this design were made for several American watch makes and all of these are rare. CONDITION: Mvt: NR, fully wound, will tick briefly with a twist, overhaul needed, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, barrel bridge with areas of nickel finish loss around portions of s# and adjustment marking area, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with only small edge flake near 7:30; hands with some material at their centers which appears to be possibly glue; case shows hardly any wear, short scratch to lower-left perimeter of rear, superb engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
