APW - Howard Keystone, Series 0, 23J, 16S, 14K gold OF Howard recase with initials to rear, Jürgensen-style lips, five-knuckle hinges, gold cuvette with signature ring, white enamel DS dial with fancy Arabic hour numerals, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, crosshatch pattern nickel damascene, s#953722. Gross weight of assembled watch 59.0 dwt (91.8 g). A scarce damascene variant of this top grade watch with a total production believed to be 750 made in this open face version. This crosshatch damascene pattern was applied to only the earliest run of Series 0 production, and all runs of Series 0 production that followed were made with a plainer striped damascene pattern. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches; dial with chip at center above hands, outer chapter hl at 7, some perimeter hls between 9 and 10, very small flake to inner portion of outer chapter at 3, some overall surface dirtiness; excellent hour and minute hands, fair seconds-hand with oxide and finish loss; case shows very light wear, ding to rear below-left of center, scattered dings to band with the most prominent of these at 6, good engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
