APW - Illinois, low serial #577, Mason, 7J, 18S, nickel OF recase, "Springfield Watch Co." marked white enamel SS dial, KWKS (key not included with this lot), gilt mvt, s#577. A notably early first year example with three-digit serial number and with correct "Springfield Watch Co." signed dial. This grade was named for escapement room foreman Charles E. Mason. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with yellowed tone, some scattered micro-fine scratches and small surface nicks, mvt with small bit of play within case despite tight case screw; dial with two faint perimeter hls at 11:30, very faint hl within seconds-register, very small edge flaking under bezel between 1:30 and 2, pinpoint nick to upper rim of seconds-register hole; excellent blued hour and minute hands, fine-plus seconds-hand with slight bends; case shows light wear, scattered scratches, mild small ding to rear above center, cuvette perimeter with some scratches from slipped past openings; tight bow; good thick glass crystal with as-made bubble in finish toward lower-left.
