APW - Illinois, Benjamin Franklin, 17J, 16S, gold-filled drum style HC recase with beautiful engine turning and floral engraving detail, perched bird to front and rear, front shield with initials, cuvette with 1909 presentation engraving, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, gilt mvt screws and regulator assembly, s#2111952. An excellent example of this scarce and attractive private label. CONDITION: Mvt: Running after a twist to start, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, some scattered micro-fine scratches; dial with light outer chapter hl at 5, glaze scratch to lower-left portion of seconds-register; excellent hour hand and seconds-hand, fair minute hand with rust to tip and some lesser oxide elsewhere; case shows very little wear, no dents, excellent engine turning and engraving detail, cuvette has some play at hinge and falls closed freely with gravity; tight bow, crown shows very light wear; glass crystal with some play in bezel and falling out occasionally so should be secured or replaced.
