Smith & Son, 9 Strand, London W.C., keyless going barrel lever, 51mm, 18K gold original HC bearing London hallmarks for 1879, "Sero, Sed, Serio" in script under a dilapidated tree translating roughly into "Late, but in earnest," monogram initials to rear, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, SW-pin-set, lever escapement, 13J, gilt mvt, s#84635 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 65.5 dwt (101.7 g). CONDITION: Mvt: NR, overhaul needed, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, few micro-fine scratches and even haze to plates; flawless dial; excellent gold hands; case front lift springs need nudge of assistance opening lid through the initial portion of its range, case shows little wear, some fine scratches and profuse micro-fine scratches to exterior, several light dings to case rear and sides; bow pivots freely, crown shows light wear; crystal is missing.
