EPW - Jean Robert Soret, Geneva, verge fusee quarter-hour repeater, 39mm, 18K gold OF original pair cases, outer in multicolor gold with enamel detail to rear and set with diamonds, outer with diamond-set push, both cases pierced for sound transmission, inner case with a grotesque mask to its lower edge, inner case with slide at 6 for dumb repeat function, button under inner case bezel near 9 for dumb repeat function, white enamel dial, fancy gold diamond-set hands, KWKS (key not included with this lot), verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock with grotesque mask at neck, originally with a locking dust-cap which is no longer present, s#18564. Gross weight of assembled watch 40.5 dwt (63.1 g). CONDITION: Mvt: NR, setting square is worn round not allowing proper setting with a key, if hands are carefully manually advanced watch exhibited good repeat function and tone on initial three or four trials which was a bit surprising given the repeat bell has evident past soldered repair of fractures but on next trial good dumb repeat function though button is challenging to depress fully without opening of inner case bezel, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent gilt tone, some fine scratches with majority adjacent pillar positions, dust-cap is missing; flawless dial; nearly mint hands with all diamonds present; outer case shows little wear, no dents or dings, excellent engraving detail, red enameling of rear with flaking or chipping of loss around its lower and left portions, scattered diamond losses to bezel and rear, button latch good; inner case with evident soldered repair of fractures to its bell, inner case shows light wear, some areas of mild circumferential indentation of sides, reduced engraving detail, gilt pendant sleeve with wear to brass; bow pivots semi-freely; good domed glass crystal.
